About Me…Our home is our shelter. It reflects our personalities and provides refuge. I have lived in many places — grown up on a farm in Iowa, lived in a rented bedroom, reconstructed a third floor walkup into a condo, settled into a house surrounded by trees. How people arrange their shelter to meet their needs and their aesthetics has fascinated me for a long time. I graduated from college with a BA in interior design. Since then I’ve done various things to earn a living; bought and sold homes and investment properties, remodeled fixer-uppers, rented to tenants, and designed, planted and maintained gardens… whatever needed to be done. Now I put all those experiences together in a career called “staging.” It’s a great job. I get to go into all kinds of places, in every part of town, with only one goal: to make it look its best and stimulate the imaginations of people who might live there. I get to combine all my previous activities. I can drill a hole, paint a wall, place furniture, drape a scarf, build a design theme, or anything else that needs to be done. And—if it’s something I can’t do, I know whom to call. |
